How
can I improve my repair credit score? Should you
choose debt settlement as your debt relief strategy
and want solutions to repair your credit afterwards,
or just want to improve your credit score, there
are five critical steps we recommend. The primary
ways to repair your credit score are the following:
1)
Make it a habit to pay your bills on time. Many
people find that their credit score is bad, and
subsequently think that there is nothing wrong
with continuing this trend. This is a huge mistake.
If your credit score is low, you can improve it
easily enough by paying your bills on time every
month.
2)
Correct inaccurate or unverifiable information
on your credit report. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCPA)
is the Federal law that governs your credit report and protects
you from inaccurate reporting. The law allows you to legally
challenge and remove items that are inaccurate on your credit
report. Note: Never attempt to dispute debts on your credit
report until those specific accounts are paid in full or
settled! For more information visit credit
report disputing.
3)
Get a credit card, secured credit card, or credit in general
and immediately start building a positive credit history.
Use credit wisely and pay it off at the end of the month.
You may want to consider an automatic bill pay service so
you are not late with payments. Within a couple of years
this will bolster your score.
4)
Keep the balance under 35% of credit limit. One of the things
that impacts your credit score is how much of your available
credit limit has already been spent. In order to have the
most positive impact on your credit score, you need to keep
the amount of credit used at 35% or less than the total credit
limit available.
5)
Add your name to another person's credit card. Many people
never consider this method as a credit improvement strategy,
but adding your name to a credit card that belongs primarily
to another individual (with a strong payment history) may
be a great way to improve your own credit. Some people say
this method is not effective but some say it is. It can't
hurt if you have a spouse and try.
